The topography of the marine bottom is flat where the sedimentation is strong and covers the tectonic features.
This sedimentation comes from several sources : * Erosion sediments, brought mainly by rivers.
* New "young rocks", new magma composed of basalt, of the average oceanic crest * Discharge of underwater volcanic ash, especially hydrothermal vents * Activity of microorganisms * The sea itself eroding the ocean floor * Marine life : corals, fish, algae, fungi, crabs, marine plants and other sediments of biological origin.
