The term psychotic refers to delusions and hallucinations, which occur in the absence of consciousness. Therefore, the psychotic disorder was defined as the loss of the boundaries of the ego, with a serious deterioration in the evaluation of reality.

The term psychotic refers to delusions and hallucinations, which occur in the absence of consciousness.

Therefore, the psychotic disorder was defined as the loss of the boundaries of the ego, with a serious deterioration in the evaluation of reality.

Within this disorder we find : schizophrenia, schizophreniform disorder, schizoaffective disorder and brief psychotic disorder.

All characterized by delusional ideas, hallucinations (visual, auditory, somatic), catatonia, and gross alteration of the judgment.

Despite making important advances in the knowledge of schizophrenia, this remains the "Pandora's box" willing to preserve its enigmas, regardless of the attempts made to reveal them, as a fascinating disease.

In this fascination we decided to make this article, to understand its clinical, etiology, prognosis, evolution and its devastating consequences on a personal, social and work level, not only in patients but also in their families and in society in general.
