Primero despeja una de las dos variables, en este caso yo despejaré la variable Y.

X + y = 4

x = 4 - y

x - y = 2

x = 2 + y

Luego, usamos en sistema por igualación, e igualamos ambas ecuaciones, así :

4 - y = 2 + y

4 - 2 = y + y

2 = 2y

1 = y

Luego reemplaza.

Ahora, verifica reemplazando en las ecuaciones iniciales la Y por 1, así :

x - 1 = 2

x = 2 + 1

x = 3

x + 1 = 4

x = 4 - 1

x = 3.
