Before

the II World War when still the usage of the household refrigerators

was not this common, the typicall aussie breakfast mostly consisted

grilled steak and fried eggs.

That cause of the availability of

those products and their short term of use.

However this typicall

australian breakfast did not survive till novadays.

Though its

symbolic rite we can still find in the US Marine Corps habits and their

pre - landing breakfast.

Marines had copied it from Australian soldiers

when these two countries campaigned together during the Pacific

War.

Novadays the typical australian beakfast contains cereal with

milk or yoghurt or toasts with marmelade and even more common with

Vegemite : very unique aussie product.

Vegemite is a food paste made

from the leftover brewer´s yeast extract and various spices.

On. The

most popular cereals in Australia are Cornflakes.

Australian also

tend to eat some wheat biscuites with their morning meal.

Fruits are

also very common to eat for the breakfast.

A lot of Australians also eat pancakes with honey and lemon.

During the weekends a

lot of people decide to go out for a breakfast or brunch (meal which is a mix of breakfast and lunch, late breakfast bigger than a normal one) to

the local café.

There is more common to have a cooked breakfast which might

contain : sausage, bacon, breakfast steaks, fried mushrooms,

tomatoes, hash browns and pancakes, similar to both the British and

American cooked breakfast.

Of course it is important to remember

that eating habits may be different in different families and regions

specialy as Australia is such a cosmopolitic country with plenty of

foreign influences (f.

Eg. from Polinesia and Asia).
