Jack, is a young artist who wins a ticket to America on the Titanic (the largest and safest transatlantic boat ever built) by playing a card game.
On the trip, he meets Rose, a young man from a good family, who is going to contract a marriage of convenience with Cal, a cocky millionaire.
Jack and Rose fall in love on board, but Cal and Rose's mother put all kinds of obstacles in their relationship.
Unexpectedly, a huge iceberg causes the ship to sink.
They begin to save the life of the passengers, first Rose for being of the upper class, who decides to keep Jack to its side.
Sometime between the tragedy, they separate and meet again, they held hands, but Jack died frozen.
Rose survives and dies asleep years later.
