The two friends interested in investigating the murder of Madame L'Espanaye and her daughter Camille L'madamoiselle Espanaye, found in his house completely mutilated and no apparent clues to find the murderer, and therefore decide an investigation on their own.

Thanks to the overwhelming logic of Dupin, attentive to detail was happening around them, they conclude that the only thing that could make such a terrible crime is an orangutan.

Dupin decides to put a fake ad in the newspaper, which said that an orangutan had been found and to recover it had to go to the rue du Faubourg Saint - Germain (home).

One night, a Maltese pirate Dupin goes home looking orangutan, but to discover that everything was a lie, he decides to tell the truth and realize that the orangutan escaped and came through the window at Madame L'Espanaye without power stop, and he, terrified by the fury of ape decided to leave.

Thanks to these statements, the person arrested for the murder was released, and the orangutan, a little later, it was sold to a zoo.

The outcome which has the book is swift and unexpected.

The storyline

presents is easy to understand and the prevalence is the reflection.
