The painting was investigated by the scientists at theRochester Institute of Technologyand theMuseum of Modern Artin New York.
Thepigmentanalysis has shown that the sky was painted withultramarineandcobalt blueand for the stars and the moon van Gogh employed the rare pigmentindian yellowtogether with zinc yellow.
